Nicola’s Pottery

A touch of whimsy

A Nelson-based artist, Ceramist Nicola Horner works from the comfort of a home studio, crafting enchanting pieces that bridge the gap between functionality and artistic expression. Specialising in stoneware and porcelain, Nicola infuses each creation with a touch of whimsy and a dash of the unexpected. Her work is a delightful fusion of bespoke design and quirky charm, offering a unique twist on everyday objects.

Combining wheel throwing and hand-building

Drawing inspiration from a myriad of sources, including French chic, collage art, and the colourful palette of Venetian architecture and Egyptian art, her pieces exude a playful vibrancy. Each creation is a testament to her love for multi-coloured compositions and the joy found in unconventional forms.

Influenced by the works of Virginia Leonard, Nicola strives to imbue her creations with a similar sense of elegance and artistic flair. Her latest endeavours explore the intricate beauty of crystalline glazes and the timeless allure of celadon, adding new dimensions to her already captivating portfolio.

With each piece, Nicola invites you to embark on a journey where functionality meets artistry, and where the mundane is transformed into the extraordinary. Welcome to the world of artist Nicola Horner, where every creation tells a story waiting to be discovered.

I love Nicola’s work, and have several of her pieces, including a fabulous Dr Seuss style teapot, and a collection of gorgeous nerikomi bowls and cups.

    Very special creations!
