Jane McCulla Ceramics
Description
I create individually hand-built and thrown ceramic vessels and sculptural pieces at my home based studio situated in stunning Diamond Harbour overlooking Lyttelton Harbour, South Island, NZ.
Pieces are inspired by man’s mark on the landscape. My Harbour Rim series of ceramic vessels are inspired by the stunning coastal views of the Port Hills and Lyttelton Harbour area.
Originally from Northern Ireland, I gained a 1st Class BA Hons Fine & Applied Art at the University of Ulster in 2006 specializing in ceramics. My work is held in both private and public collections and I have exhibited in many group and solo exhibitions in Ireland, UK and NZ. My work has received multiple awards including a Merit Award at the Portage Awards 2013. I completed a public art commission for Christchurch City Council, the Lyttel People Community Land Art Mandala at Albion Square, Lyttelton 2013. In 2017 I completed a 7 week residency at The Pottery Workshop, Jingdezhen, China. I teach regular workshops and classes at my home studio and at Canterbury Potters Association, Christchurch.
