Kelvin Bradford Ceramic Artist
Description
After almost 50 years in clay my particular interests have not changed with a preference for the .”altered form”and an embracement of the “imperfect becomes perfect”the Japanese view of beauty..I was brought up in the ‘Hamada Leach” period of NZ Pottery and influenced by the late Len Castle..Shoji Hamada and Bernard Leach presented a very narrow view of the Japanses Pottery scene and shouldnt be blamed for it..It was the other styles that didnt really materielise until the 1980s/90s that really grabbed my attention.particularly ‘yakishime ,oribe and shino..and still do. However as time moves on new ideas techniques emerge at an astoninshing rate far to many for an 86 yearold to really comprehend, But that wonderful medium ‘Clay’ : presents an ongoing challenge to everyone..
Now iam still able to produce some works which will find favour and continue to marvel at whats available on the web
