Auckland Studio Potters
Description
The Auckland Studio Potters was created back in the early 1960’s by a group of enthusiastic potters from around the Auckland region with the main purpose of furthering the ceramic arts. In the mid l970’s the ASP found a suitable location in Onehunga where it established its teaching Centre and other facilities. Over the following years the popularity of pottery grew as both a favored craft and a hobby.
In 1995 the ASP completed its new teaching Centre building. This purpose-built facility houses all the wheels, glazing equipment, materials and other pottery equipment, making it one of Auckland’s premier pottery teaching institutions.
The ASP’s teaching program is extensive and varied. Each term up to 7 day and evening classes start. Some are for beginners to intermediates, others for the more skilled. Some classes cater to those who want to learn how to make a pot on the potter’s wheel, others focus on hand building techniques and sculpting ideas out of clay.
All our tutors are professional potters who are experienced at bringing out the best from their students. If you are interested in learning how to make a pot or gain more extensive skills then please contact the Auckland Studio Potters.
